Announcement Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM) is an industry wide initiative to unify the management of system, networks, and applications across multiple and diverse vendor environments. The WBEM clients use the mass storage providers to gather information about various subsystems. The WBEM standard enables the WBEM clients to subscribe to indications, and indication consumers to receive indications on the occurrence of events of interest on the managed system.
HP-UX WBEM Fibre Channel Provider The provider enables WBEM client applications to retrieve information about the Fibre Channel host-bus adapters (FC-HBA) on the system. The features of FC provider are described below: • Supports Instance provider feature This feature provides information about FC-HBA subsystem in the managed node. • Supports Consolidated Status provider (FC-CSP) feature This feature reports the overall health status of the FC-HBA subsystem in the managed node.
What's New in This Release This version of the provider includes defect fix and does not offer any new feature.
Installing HP-UX WBEM Fibre Channel Provider The latest WBEM FC Provider depot is available for download on the OE media. It is also available on the Web for download at: http://h18013.www1.hp.com/products/servers/management/hpsim/ dl_hpux.html#managed NOTE: The mass storage WBEM providers depot available on the Web does not support CSP and IP features for all the related subsystems. Defects Fixed in This Version The following defect is fixed in the provider for the September 2009 release. Table 1-4 Defect fixes for September 2009 HP-UX 11iv3 Update Release Defect ID QXCR1000897995 Description In the previous release, when event subscriptions are created by a non-privileged user, the HPUXFCIndicationProviderModule runs out of file descriptors and stops functioning. As a result, events reported by the HPUXFCIndicationProviderModule may be lost.
Known Problems, Workarounds, Limitations There are no known problems and workarounds in the current release. Following is the limitation of the FC provider: • 12 It is a read-only provider and hence does not allow users to modify, create, or delete instances.
