HP-UX WBEM Fibre-Channel Provider Release Notes (April 2010, 5992-5218)

• Supports Indication provider (FC-IP) feature
This feature generates indications whenever the events of interest occur in the Fibre Channel
subsystems.
• Reports data for the subsystem.
• Supports HP-UX WBEM services to provide Web access to HP-UX data for management clients.
• Used by HP Software Management clients, HP System Insight Manager (SIM), HP System
Management HomePage (SMH), and others.
• Supports WBEM 2.5 services security features to control access to HP-UX data.
What's New in This Release
This version of the provider supports the following features :
• Fibre-Channel Indication provider monitors indication generated for the following hardware
on HP-UX 11i v2 OS:
◦ DS2500 Storage Enclosure
◦ MSA 30 and MSA 1000/1500 (Storage Arrays)
◦ MSA 60 and MSA 70 (JBODs)
◦ RAIDSA and SAS adapters
◦ FCLP adapters
◦ FCD and TD adapters
• As OnlineDiag is not supported on BL8x0–i2 platforms, the dm_fclp_adapter and
dm_ql_adapter monitors used by Fibre Channel Indication provider is replaced by
HPUXFCNativeIndicationProviderModule on these platforms.
• The Fibre-Channel provider property page available on System Management Homepage
(SMH) application looks different on HP-UX 11i v2 and HP-UX 11i v3 systems.
◦ On HP-UX 11i v3 system, the Fibre-Channel provider SMH page displays one table with
details of all ports available on a system and properties.
◦ On HP-UX 11i v2 system, the Fibre-Channel provider SMH page displays two tables,
namely FC Ports table and FC Controllers table. The FC Controllers table
displays information about the physical cards and number of ports available on the system.
The FC Ports table displays information about the individual ports.
In addition to the new features supported in the current release, defects are fixed. For information
about the defect fix, see “Defects Fixed in This Version” (page 8).
