Known problems, workarounds, and limitations
Following known problems are applicable for the current release:
• Problem: If the permission for /tmp and /var/tmp directories are changed during HP-UX
installation phase, the sfmdb user cannot write temporary files related to WBEM events and
postgres database. As a result, WBEM events are not logged at the following locations:
EventArchive, syslog, email and /var/opt/sfm/log/event.log. The user would
experience installation failure during the configure phase of the SysFaultMgmt and the following
message is logged in the /var/opt/sfm/log/install.log file:
/var/tmp/createtable.XXX.sh[70]: /var/tmp/shYYY.13: Cannot create
the specified file.
Workaround: To enable logging of WBEM events and to create the intermediate postgres
database files, the directory permission and ownership for /tmp and /var/tmp must be
reset to the values 1777 and root:root respectively.
• Problem: DRD upgrade results in pre-install errors for PSB.
Description: When the user tries to upgrade any diagnostics product in DRD environment, the
following error message is displayed:
Failed to move /var/opt/psb/db/pgsql /var/opt/psb/db/pgsql.X Y. Terminating Install.
Workaround: Do not to use this product for DRD upgrade scenarios. This problem will be
fixed in PSB C.11.00.02.03, September 2012 web release.
• Problem: The installation and upgrade of PSB fails.
Description: The installation/upgrade of PSB September 2012 release from prior releases,
fails on HP Integrity systems with locale settings not supported by postgres 8.4.8 server.
Workaround: Before installation/upgrade set the locale to “C” and reset it after the installation.
• Limitation in the health test for disk drive
The health test for disk drive is not available on the system where there are no disks when
HPUXStorageNativeProviderModule is monitoring. You cannot perform the health test for disk
drive on HP Superdome 2 because /opt/dasprovider/bin/Disk_provider_test
-d command does not show any LUN HW path. The health test for disk drive is unavailable
on BL870c i2 using HW RAID.
Localized version of the software
The product is supported only in English locale (LANG=C). Behavior of the product is unpredictable
when LANG value is set to any other language code other than C. Documentation support for this
product is also available only in English locale.
