HP-UX ProviderSvcsBase Administrator Guide, September 2011

NOTE: The oserrlogd daemon is supported on all HP Integrity servers running on HP-UX 11i
v3 March 2009 or later. The diagmond daemon, which is part of the OnlineDiag bundle, is
supported on HP-UX 11i v2 and HP-UX 11i v3 PA-RISC and Itanium based systems. The two
daemons can co-exist on a system. For more information on diagmond daemon, see Online
Diagnostics (EMS and STM) Administrator's Guide March 2011, Under Chapter 1 Introduction
—> Support Tools Manager available at the following location http://www.hp.com/go/

Users can tune the oserrlogd daemon configuration parameters, if required. The following
configuration parameters are available in /var/opt/psb/conf/oserrlogd.cfg file.
PSB_NUM_LOG_FILES
Specifies the maximum number of circular files used for logging.
The default value is set to 8.
PSB_LOG_FILE_SIZE
Specifies the maximum size of a single log file (=specified value *1024 bytes, which is an
indicative maximum log file size).
The default value is set to 200.
PSB_LOG_FILE_PATH
Specifies the location of log files.
The Default path is /var/opt/psb/oselogs.
PSB_LOG_FILE_NAME
Specifies that the log file name must begin with a term.
For example: If the string osel is specified as a value, then the log file must begin with the
name osel.
The default value is set to osel.
PSB_DISK_THRESHOLD
Indicates the amount of free disk space available for use, as a percentage of the total capacity,
on the/var filesystem to log system errors.
The default value is set to 80.
PSB_LOG_RATE_THRESHOLD
Indicates the log rate threshold as the number of errors per minute.
If the value is set to 20 and if the rate of error logging is greater than the value 20, the log
file gets disabled. As the rate of error logging decreases below the value 20, the log file
automatically gets enabled.
The default value is set to 20.
PSB_DIAG2_READ_INTERVAL
Specifies the read interval time at which the osserlogd daemon reads from the diag2
driver.
For example: If the value is set to 10, it indicates that after every 10 seconds, the oserrlogd
daemon reads from the diag2 driver.
