Announcement Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM) is an industry wide initiative to unify the management of system, networks, and applications across multiple and diverse vendor environments. The WBEM clients use the mass storage providers to gather information about various subsystems. The WBEM standard enables the WBEM clients to subscribe to indications, and indication consumers to receive indications on the occurrence of events of interest on the managed system.
HP-UX WBEM IOTree Provider The IOTree Provider enables WBEM client applications to retrieve information about the various attributes of the PCI I/O subsystem. It obtains the basic HP-UX PCI subsystem information, such as the number and the various characteristics of the PCI slots, PCI cards, PCI devices, and PCI bridges. The IOTree Provider supports the following features: • Supports Instance Provider feature This feature provides information about PCI I/O subsystem in the managed node.
Installing HP-UX IOTree Provider The latest WBEM IOTree Provider depot is available for download on the OE media. It is also available on the Web for download at: http://h18013.www1.hp.com/products/servers/ management/hpsim/dl_hpux.html#managed NOTE: The mass storage WBEM providers depot available on the Web does not support CSP and IP features for all the related subsystems. For more information on installing the providers, see the Website at: http://h20293.www2.hp.
Known Problems, Workarounds, Limitations There are no known problems and workarounds in the current release. Following are the limitations of the IOTree Provider: • • It is a read-only provider and hence does not allow users to modify, create, or delete instances. It does not support enumerateInstances and getInstance methods for the association classes.
