running HP-UX 11i v3.

Product Description
Veritas Volume Manager is a storage management tool that removes the physical limitations of
disk storage so that you can configure, share, manage, and optimize storage I/O performance
online without interrupting data availability. VxVM also provides easy-to-use, online storage
management tools to reduce planned and unplanned downtime.
Currently, the 5.0 version of Symantec products is available on independent media only, but will
later be integrated into the HP-UX 11i v3 Operating Environment, replacing the currently available
4.1 version.
New Features in This Release
The following new features are supported in this release:
• 2K Volumes in a Volume Set
The limit on the number of volumes allowed in a volume set is now increased from 256 to
2048.
NOTE: 2K volumes are not supported with Base-VxFS and HP OnlineJFS.
• Large Hostname Support
Veritas Volume Manager 5.0 supports hostnames up to 31 characters in length, although
HP-UX 11i v3 supports nodenames up to 64 characters and hostnames up to 256 characters
in length.
