Veritas Volume Manager 5.0 Release Notes HP-UX 11i v3 (5992-1952, August 2011)

The vxvol command cannot be used to set site consistency on a volume unless sites and site
consistency have first been set up for the disk group.
VxVM does not currently support RAID-5 volumes in cluster-shareable disk groups.
System Requirements
Following are the hardware and software requirements for VxVM 5.0 on HP-UX 11i v3.

Release Notes available at http://docs.hp.com/en/oshpux11iv3.html.
Software Requirements
OS Version
HP-UX 11i v3.
Patches Required
For information on required and recommended patches before installing VxVM 5.0, see Veritas
5.0 Installation Guide HP-UX 11i v3.
After installing VxVM 5.0, HP recommends that the following patches are installed:
PHKL_38260
PHCO_38235
PHKL_38236
PHKL_38241
These patches can be installed from http://www.itrc.hp.com. Installation of these patches fail
if VxVM 5.0 is not installed on the system.
VEA Graphical User Interface and System Management Home Page (SMH)
The Veritas™ Enterprise Administrator (VEA) provides a Java-based graphical user interface for
managing VxVM. VEA has two parts: a server and a client.
The server must run on the system running VxVM. The client can run on the server machine or the
client software can be installed on a different HP-UX 11i v2 system, to manage VxVM remotely.
Note that only HP-UX 11i clients are supported.
System Administration Manager (SAM), the HP-UX system administration manager, and VEA coexist
as independent entities. The VEA recognizes and labels LVM volumes and disks, but does not
manage them. Similarly, SMH recognizes and labels VxVM disks, but does not manage them. To
manage VxVM disks graphically, you must use the VEA. For information about VEA, see the Veritas
Enterprise Administrator User's Guide.
