Veritas Volume Manager 5.0 Migration Guide, HP-UX 11i v3, First Edition, May 2008

Chapter
4
SMH and the VEA
This chapter describes the Veritas Enterprise Administrator (VEA) graphical
user interface (GUI), and its relationship with the System Management
Homepage (SMH).
The following topics are discussed in this chapter:
Displaying disk devices in SMH
Displaying volume groups and disk groups in SMH
Displaying logical volumes in SMH
SMH and the VEA coexist as independent entities. The VEA recognizes and
labels LVM volumes and disks, but does not manage them. Similarly, SHM
recognizes and labels VxVM disks, but does not manage them. To manage VxVM
disks graphically, you must use the VEA.
Note: If you run the VEA client from the command line, refresh SMH to see
VxVM changes reflected in the SMH screen.
Only privileged users can run the VEA client.
It is possible to launch the VEA client from SMH by selecting Home > System
Configuration > Disks and File Systems > Veritas Enterprise Administrator.
For information about the VEA, see the Veritas Enterprise Administrator User’s
Guide and the online help that is available from within the VEA.
