Using the QuickLog Feature

NOTE
• The Make Log task is only available if QuickLog is
installed/licensed.
• The Make Log task requires a log device number (1-31).
• Only VxFS file systems can be used with a QuickLog device.
• The specified volume cannot contain a file system.
• The size of the specified volume must be at least 32MB.
Enabling a QuickLog Device for a File System
The QuickLog Enable procedure enables a QuickLog device on a VxFS
file system. Before you enable a QuickLog device, you must designate a
volume as a QuickLog volume.
NOTE You can enable QuickLog on the file system automatically at system
startup by selecting Mount at Boot, and specifying the appropriate
options when completing the New File System dialog box (see “Adding a
New File System to a Volume” on page 158).
To enable a QuickLog device for a file system
Step 1. Select the file system on which to enable a QuickLog device.
Step 2. Choose Actions > QuickLog > Enable.
Step 3. Complete the Enable QuickLog dialog box as follows:
File System Name: Check that the correct file system name is
displayed in this field.
Log Device
Number:
Select the number of the log device to be
enabled for the file system. Log devices are
listed in /dev/qlog.
