Enabling a QuickLog Device for a File System
TheQuickLog Enable procedure enables aQuickLogdevice on a VxFSfilesystem. Before
you enable a QuickLog device, you must designate a volume as a QuickLog volume.
Note You can enable QuickLog on the file system automatically at system startup by
selecting Mount at Boot, and specifying the appropriate options when completing
the New File System dialog box (see Adding a New File System to a Volume).
To enable a QuickLog device for a file system
1. Select the file system on which to enable a QuickLog device.
2. Choose Actions > QuickLog > Enable
3. Complete the Enable QuickLog dialog box as follows:
After you have provided all necessary information in the dialog box, click OK.
File System Name: Check that the correct file system name is displayed in this field.
Log Device Number: Select the number of the log device to be enabled for the file
system. Log devices are listed in /dev/qlog.
Make QuickLog enable
persistent (checkbox):
Check to enable QuickLog whenver the File System is mounted.
Notes:
- This task is only available if QuickLog is installed/licensed.
- This task requires a file system name.
- Only VxFS file systems can be used with a QuickLog device.
- The specified QuickLog device must already have a designated QuickLog volume.
- If no log device number is specified, the least-loaded device is used.
