Removing VERITAS File System 3.5 (HP OnlineJFS/JFS
3.5) Product
IMPORTANT Because VERITAS File System 3.5 (HP OnlineJFS/JFS 3.5) makes changes to the
HP-UX kernel when it is installed, the product may not remove completely using the
following procedure. If you experience any problems with removing the VERITAS File
System 3.5 (HP OnlineJFS/JFS 3.5) product, contact HP's Technical Support for
assistance.
Step 1. Log in as root.
Step 2. Check the /etc/vx/tunefstab file and remove the three base/fullVxFS 3.5 tunable
settings: hsm_write_prealloc, read_ahead, and write_throttle
These three tunables are added when the base/full VxFS 3.5 product is installed. The HP
OnLineJFS/JFS 3.3 vxtunefs command does not recognize the base/full VxFS 3.5
tunables therefore the command fails when trying to access these non-existent tunables.
Step 3. Remove all of the base/full VxFS 3.5 software, enter:
swremove -x autoreboot=true BaseVxFS
CAUTION Do not remove the VRTSvlic product if there are any other VERITAS products running
on your system. The VRTSvlic product should not be removed as it is a common
licensing utility used for all other VERITAS products; removal of this may cause errors
with the use of other VERITAS products.
The following sample output illustrates the messages that appear during the software
removal process:
