Installing VERITAS File System 3.5 (HP OnlineJFS/JFS 3.5)

Chapter 1

Installing From Software Depot

Step 1. Review the “Product Licensing and Purchase Information” on page 20.

Step 2. Log in as root.

Step 3. Go to HP’s Software Depot http://software.hp.com .

Step 4. Select

Enhancement Releases.

Step 5. Select

HP OnlineJFS/JFS 3.5 from the list.

Step 6. Follow the instructions to download VERITAS File System 3.5 (HP OnlineJFS/JFS 3.5)

into the /tmp directory.

Step 7. Verify that the source depot file has downloaded correctly using swlist. Note that

swlist and swinstall require you to specify the full path name to the location of the

source depot file:

swlist -d @ /tmp/BaseVxFS.depot

# Initializing...

# Contacting target "localhost"...

# Target: localhost:/tmp/BaseVxFS.depot

# Bundle(s):

VxFS 3.5 Filesystem For 11.11

Step 8. Use swinstall to install the BaseVxFS bundle from the source depot file. Note that

because VxFS 3.5 pulls in a set of kernel components, the autoreboot flag must be

specified:

swinstall -x autoreboot=true -s /tmp/BaseVxFS.depot

The system will reboot after installation:

Step 9. Verify that the BaseVxFS bundle was installed:

swlist | grep BaseVxFS

This message should appear:

BaseVxFS 3.5-ga09 VERITAS File System Bundle 3.5 for HP-UX

When you install the BaseVxFS bundle, the following items are included:

• VRTSvxfs-VERITAS File System software

• VRTSvlic-VERITAS products licensing facility

• Enhancement patch for BaseVxFS (PHKL_27800)

• BaseVxFS online manual pages
