Installing VERITAS File System 3.5 (HP OnlineJFS/JFS 3.5)

Installing VERITAS File System 3.5 (HP OnlineJFS/JFS

3.5)

The VERITAS File System 3.5 (HP OnlineJFS/JFS 3.5) can be installed using the

Software Pack CD-ROM or by downloading a depot source file from HP’s Software Depot.

Installing from the Software Pack CD-ROM

Step 1. Review the “Product Licensing and Purchase Information” on page 20.

Step 2. Log in as root.

Step 3. Mount the CD drive to the desired directory. The following example uses the /cdrom

directory (you can find the CD drive device file by using the ioscan -fn -C disk

command):

mount -r /dev/dsk/clt2d0 /cdrom

Step 4. Use swinstall to install the BaseVxFS bundle from the CD. Note that because base/full

VxFS pulls in a set of kernel components, the autoreboot flag must be specified:

swinstall -x autoreboot=true -s /cdrom BaseVxFS

The system will reboot after installation:

Step 5. Verify that the BaseVxFS bundle was installed:

swlist | grep BaseVxFS

This message should appear:

BaseVxFS 3.5-ga14 VERITAS File System Bundle 3.5 for HP-UX

When you install the BaseVxFS bundle, the following items are included:

• VRTSvxfs-VERITAS File System software

• VRTSvlic-VERITAS products licensing facility

• Enhancement patch for BaseVxFS (PHKL_27800)

• BaseVxFS online manual pages
