Installing VERITAS Volume Manager for HP-UX on HP-UX 11i

You can install VERITAS Volume Manager for HP-UX by running swinstall interactively or

by specifying the bundles on the swinstall command line. Choose either of the following

procedures:

•“Installing VERITAS Volume Manager for HP-UX Non-interactively with swinstall”

•“Installing VERITAS Volume Manager for HP-UX Interactively with swinstall”

Installing VERITAS Volume Manager for HP-UX Non-interactively

with swinstall

To install the VERITAS Volume Manager for HP-UX non-interactively with swinstall, do

the following steps:

Step 1. Mount the HP-UX 11i Application Release CD:

mount -F cdfs cdrom-device /cdrom

Step 2. Install the software bundle with one of the following commands:

If you have purchased the VERITAS Volume Manager 3.2 for HP-UX, product

B9116AA, use this command (you will need the codeword you received when you

purchased the product):

swinstall -x autoreboot=true -s /cdrom B9116AA

or if you have not purchased B9116AA, use the following command to install Base

VERITAS Volume Manager 3.2 for HP-UX, product Base-VXVM:

swinstall -x autoreboot=true -s /cdrom Base-VXVM

NOTE Installing B9116AA automatically installs Base-VXVM, if it was not already

installed.

Your system will reboot.

NOTE If you install B9116AA after Base-VXVM is already installed, you must still use

the -x autoreboot option with swinstall. Your system in that case,

however, will not reboot.

Step 3. Check the log file, /var/adm/sw/swagent.log, for any errors reported during
