Moving a Disk Group
Chapter 3 141
Moving a Disk Group
This procedure moves a disk group (and the Volume Manager objects in
that disk group) from one system to another. This relocates the disk
group’s configuration to the new system.
To move a disk group from one machine to another
Step 1. Unmount and stop all volumes in the disk group to be moved. (See
Chapter 4, Volume Tasks, for information on how to unmount and stop
volumes.)
Step 2. Follow the instructions in “Deporting a Disk Group” to deport the disk
group to be moved to the other system.
Step 3. Attach all of the physical disks in the disk group to the new system.
Step 4. On the new system, follow the instructions in “Importing a Disk Group”
to import the disk group.
Step 5. Select the appropriate host machine node and choose Hosts > Scan Disks
(Selected menu) to set up the newly attached disks on the system. This
runs the disk setup commands appropriate for the operating system.
Step 6. Follow the instructions in “Recovering Volumes in a Disk Group” to
restart and recover all volumes in the disk group on the new system.
Notes:
The Volume Manager and the Storage Administrator (server) must
be running on both systems.
