Known Problems And Workarounds
Following known problems exist for the Veritas Storage Foundation for Oracle:
Problem
If dbed_vmchecksnap is run with the -h option and /oracle/ora9i/ is set as the home
instead of /oracle/ora9i (without the forward slash), an error message is displayed.
Workaround
Make sure not to add the /at the end.
Problem
Sometimes a snapplan is in a state where dbed_vmchecksnap -o remove does not remove
it.
Workaround
You can remove the snapplan by first forcing a snapshot and then resyncing. Later on you
can use the dbed_vmchecksnap -o command to remove the snapplan entry from the
repository.
Problem
If two snapplans are created with the same name but different paths, the error message
snapplan already exists is displayed.
Workaround
Remove any one of the snapplan or have different names for the snapplans. For example,
if a snapplan by name A is created on /home/proddb directory, then if you try to create
another snaplan A, from /home/mytestdb, will result in error, since the repository already
has a snaplan by the name A.
Problem
The checkpoint object in the SFO GUI does not show the correct size (in blocks) for the
checkpoint. This size is not updated even after rescanning checkpoints in the GUI.
Workaround
To know the accurate size of the checkpoint, use /opt/VRTS?bin/fsckptadm -lvc
list from the command line.
