Converting LVM Volume Groups to VxVM Disk Groups
If you are currently using VxFS file systems for your database and the file systems are mounted on
LVM volumes, you can convert these LVM volume groups to VxVM disk groups in place.
VERITAS Volume Manager provides an interactive, menu-driven utility, vxvmconvert.
The vxvmconvert utility changes the disk areas containing the LVM configuration information,
creating equivalent VxVM configuration information. The areas of the disks used for user data,
such as file systems and databases, are not affected by the conversion.
Note As is customary before performing any kind of conversion or upgrade, back up your
database and LVM configuration information before converting LVM volume groups to
VxVM disk groups.
For detailed information on converting LVM volume groups, see the VERITAS Volume Manager
Migration Guide.
