VERITAS Storage Foundation 4.1 Cluster File System HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite Extracts, December 2005
ix
Preface
This guide provides selected extracts from the VERITAS Storage Foundation Cluster File System
4.1 Installation and Administration Guide that are relevant for deployments in HP Serviceguard
Storage Management Suite environments. These extracts describe the VERITAS Storage
Foundation Cluster File System (SFCFS). SFCFS is the clustering functionality of the VERITAS
File System
™
(VxFS), and is distributed by VERITAS as part of selected HP Serviceguard Storage
Management Suite bundles as the Serviceguard Cluster File System (SGCFS). For more detail
on these bundles refer to the HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite Version A.01.00 Release
Notes.
NOTE: Any form of the mount command (for example, 'mount -o cluster', dbed_chkptmount, or
sfrac_chkptmount) other than cfsmount or cfsumount in a HP Serviceguard Storage Management
Suite environment with CFS should be done with caution. These non-cfs commands could cause
conflicts with subsequent command operations on the file system or Serviceguard packages. Use
of these other forms of 'mount' will not create an appropriate multi-node package which means that
the Serviceguard cluster packages are not aware of the file system changes. Refer to Managing
Serviceguard Twelfth Edition for more information on cfsmount and cfsumount commands as
well as creating disk groups and mount pointpackages.
This guide is for system administrators who configure and maintain UNIX systems with
the VERITAS File System, and assumes that you have a:
◆ Basic understanding of system administration
◆ Working knowledge of the UNIX operating system
◆ General understanding of file systems
