Product Description
The Veritas File System, or VxFS, is an extent-based, intent logging file system. VxFS is designed
for use in UNIX environments that require high performance and availability, and deal with
large volume of data.
New Features
The Veritas File System 4.1 supports the following new features:
• Support for 1024 Access Control List (ACL)
You can define up to 1024 ACLs with VxFS 4.1 file system on HP-UX 11i Version 3.
• Support for 67,000,000 UID and GID with edquota
VxFS 4.1 on HP-UX 11i Version 3 supports, UID and GID up to 67000000 with edquota.
• Large File Systems and Large File Support
The VxFS 4.1 release supports Disk Layout Version 6. File system up to 256 TB in size can
be created on Disk Layout Version 6. The LVM with VxFS 4.1 can support file systems up
to 16 TB. On a 64-bit kernel with VxVM file systems, file systems up to 256 TB can be created.
The OnlineJFS license is required to create file systems over 2 TB and under 32TB. See

• Reverse Path Name Lookup
The vxlsino command, displays the full path name of a file or directory corresponding to
an inode. Reverse path name lookup is useful for applications, such as clients of the VxFS
File Change Log feature, backup and restore utilities, and replication products.
The following command is associated with the reverse name lookup feature:
vxlsino The vxlsino command searches for and, displays the path name of a file or
directory with the specified inode number.
The reverse path name lookup feature includes the following application programming
interface (API) functions:
vxfs_inotopath Returns one or all path names associated with the given inode
number of a specified VxFS file system.
vxfs_inotopath_gen Returns path names for a given inode number with a specific
generation count.
