The 3.5 release requires the following HP-UX patches.
VERITAS File System 3.5 (HP OnlineJFS/JFS 3.5) Installation Upgrading from JFS/OnLineJFS to VxFS 3.5 Upgrading from JFS/OnLineJFS to VxFS 3.5 The installation of VxFS 3.5 replaces the functionality provided by JFS and OnLineJFS on HP-UX 11i. Installing VxFS 3.5 does not remove the JFS or OnLineJFS packages; however, their functions are disabled. If you remove VxFS 3.5, the original JFS or OnLineJFS functionality returns automatically.

NOTE Symbolic links to all VxFS command executables are installed in the /opt/VRTS/bin directory. Add this directory to the end of your PATH environment variable to access the commands. The VxFS 3.

VERITAS File System 3.5 (HP OnlineJFS/JFS 3.5) Installation Installing From the Support Plus CD-ROM Upgrading the VxFS Disk Layout VxFS 3.5 allows mounting of three file system disk layouts: • • • Disk layout Version 2 (with quotas or without quotas) Disk layout Version 3 Disk layout Version 4 However, making new file systems with disk layout Version 2 or Version 3 is not allowed under VxFS 3.5. Any new file system created using VxFS 3.5 has disk layout Version 4.

If you experience any problems with the VxFS deinstallation, contact VERITAS Technical Support (see “Getting Help” on page 2) for assistance. Step 1. Check /etc/vx/tunefstab and remove any VxFS 3.5 tunable settings.
