3. Upgrade from HP-UX 11i v2 to HP-UX 11i v3.
After the OS upgrade is complete, Base-VxVM 4.1 is the default VxVM software available
in the system. Shared disk groups with disk group versions earlier than or same as 120 are
not accessible because shared disk group is not supported in VxVM 4.1 on HP-UX 11i v3.
If required, install patches required for SMO 5.0 on HP-UX 11i v3 prior to upgrading the
product.
4. Install SMO for HP-UX 11i v3.
Enter the following command to install HP SMO Standard 5.0 for HP-UX 11i v3
# swinstall -x autoreboot=true -s <depot_path> T2789CB
Enter the following command to install HP SMO Premium 5.0 for HP-UX 11i v3
# swinstall -x autoreboot=true -s <depot_path> T2790CB
You can access the disk groups created in SMO 4.1 on HP-UX 11i v2, after upgrading to SMO
5.0 on HP-UX 11i v3. For more information on upgrading to disk group version 140, see Chapter 6
(page 47).
Upgrading from SMO 3.5 on HP-UX 11i v1 to SMO 5.0 on HP-UX 11i
v3
Both VxVM 3.5 and VxVM 5.0 support disk group version 90. All upgrades from HP-UX 11i v1
to HP-UX 11i v3 require an intermediate upgrade to HP-UX 11i v2.
Complete the following procedure to upgrade from SMO 3.5 to HP-UX 11i v1 to SMO 5.0 on
HP-UX 11i v3:
1. Stop all activities on all SF volumes. For example, stop applications such as databases, that
access the volumes, and unmount file systems that exist on the volumes.
2. Upgrade from HP-UX 11i v1 to HP-UX 11i v2. By default, Base-VxVM 4.1 is installed.
3. Upgrade from HP-UX 11i v2 to HP-UX 11i v3. By default, Base-VxVM 4.1 is installed.
If required, install patches for SMO 5.0 on HP-UX 11i v3 before upgrading the product.
4. Install SMO for HP-UX 11i v3.
Enter the following command to install HP SMO Standard 5.0 for HP-UX 11i v3
# swinstall -x autoreboot=true -s <depot_path> T2789CB
Enter the following command to install HP SMO Premium 5.0 for HP-UX 11i v3
# swinstall -x autoreboot=true -s <depot_path> T2790CB
You can access disk groups created in SMO 3.5, after upgrading to SMO 5.0 on HP-UX 11i v3.
