Invoking VEA from HP-UX System Management Home Page
System Administration Manager (SAM) is deprecated in HP-UX 11i v3. HP System Management
Homepage (HP SMH) is the system administration tool for managing HP-UX 11i. SMH provides
web-based systems management functionality, at-a-glance monitoring of system component
health and consolidated log viewing. SMH also provides Terminal User Interfaces (TUIs).
Some of the key changes are described below:
• The SAM Functional Area Launcher (FAL) is replaced by the SMH web-based Graphical
User Interface (GUI)
• The enhanced Terminal User Interface (TUI) offers improved look & feel, online viewing of
man pages, command previews and other improvements.
• A new command, /usr/sbin/smh (smh(1m)) is introduced which is an enhanced version
of /usr/sbin/sam.
• The SAM command /usr/sbin/sam is deprecated. Any invocation of /usr/sbin/sam
will display the deprecation message and launch /usr/sbin/smh automatically.
The Veritas Enterprise Administrator (VEA) from Symantec Corporation, is the graphical interface
for managing VxVM and VxFS. You can invoke VEA from HP SMH as follows:
