1 Introduction Starting with the September 2006 HP-UX 11i v2 release, HP has changed the always installed version of the Symantec products from 3.5 to 4.1. This includes HP OnlineJFS, VxFS and VxVM products included with the HP-UX Mission Critical (MCOE) and Enterprise (EOE) Operating Environments. If an install (or update) is performed from the September 2006 and later Mission Critical (MCOE) or Enterprise (EOE) Operating Environments of HP-UX 11i v2 media, you would get a system with the 4.
2 Installation instructions To get a VxVM 3.5 based system along with VxFS 3.5, you must complete the steps provided in this chapter. If you require a system with VxFS 3.5 only, see “Setting up a System with Base-VxFS 3.5 and OnlineJFS 3.5”. However, if you want a system with both VxVM 3.5 and VxFS 3.5, you must complete the steps provided in both the sections below. NOTE: HP does not support mixed versions of VxFS and VxVM. Setting up a system with Base-VxFS 3.5 and HP OnlineJFS 3.5 Installation (or update) of Enterprise (EOE) or Mission Critical (MCOE) Operating Environment with the HP-UX 11i v2 September 2006 release will always install BaseVXFS 4.1, HP OnlineJFS 4.1 and EnableVxFS 4.1. To revert the system to VxFS 3.5, the Base-VXFS 4.1 and HP OnlineJFS 4.1 must be removed from your system (and the system rebooted). You must subsequently install OnlineJFS 3.5.
