1. Introduction The March 2012 HP-UX 11i v3 Operating Environment Update Release (OEUR) and later by default installs the VxFS version 5.0.1. This means that the users will no longer be able to de-select VxFS version 5.0.1 from the Ignite-UX Software tab. The March 2012 and later HP-UX 11i v3 OEURs include the following bundles: VxFS 4.1 (Base-VXFS bundle) — required and installed in all OEs OnlineJFS 4.1 (B3929EA bundle) — optional in all OEs VxFS 5.0.
In March 2012 and later OEURs, VxFS version 5.0.1 is installed by default. “BaseVxFS-501” is now a “Required” bundle of the OEUR and cannot be de-selected during Cold_install. During an upgrade to March 2012 OEUR, “Base-VxFS-501” can be de-selected if you need to have the existing version of VxFS unchanged. If not de-selected, VxFS will be upgraded to VxFS 5.0.1 from older version. OnlineJFS 5.0.1 is “Recommended” bundle and will be installed by default in the DCOE, VSEOE and HAOE. OnlineJFS 4.
NOTE: HP does not support mixed versions of VxFS and VxVM. Installing or updating to HP-UX 11i v3 March 2012 OEUR from a customized depot This section describes how to install or update to HP-UX 11i v3 March 2012 OEUR with VxFS and VxVM version 4.1, 5.0, or 5.1 SP1 from a customized depot. You can obtain the VxFS and VxVM version of 4.1, 5.0, or 5.1 SP1 bundles from the Independent media set. NOTE: All Disk Group versions supported by VxVM version 4.1, VxVM 5.0, and VxVM version 5.0.
Ensure to copy the required patches of the respective versions of VxFS or VxVM so that all of them can be installed in one reboot. 4. Install or update the system from the depot created in step 3. To cold-install VxVM with VxFS, manually select the VxVM with VxFS environment (in the Ignite-UX Basic tab) and manually select the respective VxFS and VxVM bundles in the Software tab for install. You MUST explicitly select the “VxVM with VxFS environment” and the VxVM bundle.
VxVM version 4.1 or 5.0 or 5.1 SP1 from an Ignite-UX Server This section describes the process to cold-install a system with HP-UX 11i v3, with Veritas VxFS and VxVM version 4.1 or 5.0 or 5.1 SP1, using an Ignite-UX server. It is assumed that some depot server(s) should have been set up containing two depots, one with the HP-UX 11i v3 March 2012 Operating Environment (OE) containing VxFS 5.0.1 and VxVM 5.0.1, and one with the Veritas VxFS/VxVM 4.1 or 5.0 or 5.1 SP1 software. Note that Veritas VxVM 5.0.

When such a configuration is created, the following warning messages are displayed: WARNING: Required content: "Base-VxFS-501" of OE: "HPUX11i-VSE-OE" was not found in the depot.

CASE C: For VxFS/VxVM 5.1 SP1 Base-VxFS-51 Veritas File System Bundle 5.1 for HP-UX Base-VxTools-51 VERITAS Infrastructure Bundle 5.1 for HP-UX Base-VxVM-51 Base VERITAS Volume Manager Bundle 5.1 for HP-UX 5. Make any other configuration choices needed using the Ignite-UX interface, and then select Go to cold-install the client. Note: You may see the following warning message as part of the Installation. This is expected and can be ignored.
