Introduction This document describes the procedure to cold-install or update VxFS 5.0.1/VxVM 5.0.1 on HP-UX 11i v3. VxFS 5.0.1/VxVM 5.0.1 require the HP-UX 11i v3 September 2009 Operating Environment Update Release (OEUR) or later. It cannot be installed on earlier OEURs. Starting with the September 2009 HP-UX 11i v3 Operating Environment Update Release (OEUR), HP has changed the default install behavior of VxFS. Previous HP-UX 11i v3 Operating Environment update releases by default installed the 4.

1. Copy the September 2009 11i v3 OEUR or later Operating Environment (OE) into a SD depot. 2. Delete VxFS 5.0 and VxVM 5.0 from the depot (created in step 1) by entering the following command: # swremove –d B3929FB Base-VxFS-50 Base-VxTools-50 Base-VxVM-50 @ 3. Copy the VxFS 5.0.1 and VxVM 5.0.1 bundles into the depot by entering the following command: # swcopy –s B3929GB Base-VxFS-501 Base-VxTools-501 BaseVxVM-501 @ 4.
