Determine the Services Required
The first step in planning your network is to identify what
communication problems you are trying to solve and what OSI service or
services best address your needs. This section describes each service
provided by Hewlett-Packard and when it may be appropriate for
meeting your communication needs.
X.400 Service
• Allows encapsulation of electronic information and reliably deliver it
to one or more destination users.
• Messages are transferred in a store and forward manner, not
real-time.
CMIS Service
• Can enable and disable network resources.
• Can view and change configurable values.
• Can register for notification of exceptional events.
