configuration The arrangement
of a computer system or network
as defined by the nature, number,
and the chief characteristics of its
functional units. More specifically,
the term configuration may refer to
a hardware configuration or a
software configuration.
cug Closed user group. An X.25
user facility that allows a
predetermined group of users to
contact and be contacted by
members of the group alone.
daemon A software process that
runs continuously and provides
services on request.
distributed system A computer
system in which computing,
storage, and other resources are
dispersed throughout several or
many locations.
