Conﬁguring and Verifying HP OTS/9000

At this point you should have completed the following tasks. Don’t go on

until they have been successfully completed:

• conﬁgured all links using SAM

• collected all the Remote Parameter Worksheets

• ﬁlled out Local Parameter Worksheets

• veriﬁed installation of link layer and OTS

• veriﬁed installation of all applicable software

• veriﬁed correct kernel conﬁguration

Now you are ready to start the HP OTS/9000 conﬁguration.

HP OTS/9000 Conﬁguration

Conﬁguration consists of using a combination of programs that apply to

different software products in the OSI stack. The osiadmin program

provides a single entry point to these programs which simpliﬁes the

conﬁguration process. Conﬁguration of all links using osiadmin or SAM

is recommended. This causes the appropriate link conﬁguration to be

added to the /etc/rc.config.d/netconf ﬁle. If these commands are

not present in this ﬁle, osiadmin cannot recognize the link as valid.

To have full connectivity with other nodes on the network, the rest of the

network also needs to know your local conﬁguration data. Fill in a

Remote System Worksheet for your local node so you can communicate

this information to the rest of the network.

The ﬁgure on the following page shows the ﬂow of the conﬁguration and

veriﬁcation process. Note that before starting OTS conﬁguration, you

must have all the applicable software installed (HP LAN /9000, HP

X.25/9000, HP OTS/9000). When you have collected the worksheets from

all the other network nodes with which you wish to communicate, you

can start your conﬁguration.
