HP-UX VLAN Administrator's Guide, February 2007

3. Enter a VLAN ID.
The VLAN ID must be unique within the related interface. This field is required.
Valid values: 0 to 4094, inclusive.
IMPORTANT: You must assign a VLAN ID to each VLAN interface. Verify that the
assignments are consistent across end stations and switches; otherwise, the stations cannot
communicate with each other.
4. Enter a VLAN name, or accept the default value. (Default: An empty string, which displays
as UNNAMED)
The VLAN name must be unique within the related interface.
Valid values: Up to 64 alphanumeric characters.
5. Enter a VPPA, or accept the default value. (Default: an autogenerated value)
This field represents the PPA number of the VLAN interface you want to add. The VPPA
must be unique systemwide. VPPA numbers start with 5000; the VPPA name is lanVPPA.
Valid values: 5000 to 8999, inclusive. The default is set by the system, starting at 5000.
6. Enter a priority, or accept the default value. (Default: 0)
This field is the 802.1p priority tag in the frame header. Only use this field when the priority
override level or ToS override level is set to CONF_PRI.
Valid values: 0 to 7, inclusive (0:lowest, 7:highest). (Default: 0)
7. Select a priority override level, or accept the default value. (Default: CONF_PRI)
Priority override provides a mechanism to convert IP-level precedence (IPv4 ToS octet) to
link-level 802.1p priority and thus, based on the priority override level setting, potentially
override the user-configured link level 802.1p priority. Priority override applies to outbound
frames only.
Valid values:
CONF_PRI Uses configured (user specified) priority. (Default)
IP_HEADER Converts IP header ToS to 802.1p priority.
CONF_TOS Converts configured (user-specified) ToS to 802.1p priority.
8. Enter a ToS, or accept the default value. (Default: 0)
This field is the IP precedence in the IP header; it is ignored by switches, but routers can use
it.
Valid values: 0 to 255, inclusive. (Default: 0)
9. Select a ToS override level, or accept the default value. (Default: IP_HEADER)
ToS override provides a mechanism to override the IP-level precedence in the header of an
inbound IP packet.
Valid values:
IP_HEADER Uses the ToS value (as is) in the IP header. (Default)
ETHER_HEADER Converts the Ethernet header 802.1p priority to ToS.
CONF_TOS Uses the configured (user-specified) ToS.
CONF_PRI Converts the configured (user-specified) 802.1p priority to ToS.
10. Select configuration options.
Specifies additional information to complete the action.
Valid values:
