IP Mobility Support for IPv4 - HP-UX Mobile IPv4 provides Mobile Nodes, the ability
to roam through the Internet while maintaining their home address and network
connection. HP-UX Mobile IPv4 allows transparent routing of IP datagrams to these
Mobile Nodes as they migrate from their home network to other networks, either within
the same administrative domain or to other administrative domains on the Internet.
IP Encapsulation and Tunneling - When located away from its home network, a
Mobile Node is associated with a Care-of Address, which provides information about its
current point of attachment to the Internet. Datagrams sent to the Mobile Node’s home
address are intercepted by its Home Agent, encapsulated and tunneled to the Mobile
Node’s COA. When these encapsulated datagrams arrive at the tunnel endpoint, they are
decapsulated and delivered to the Mobile Node.
Route Optimization - Route optimization in HP-UX Mobile IPv4 product facilitates the
routing of datagrams directly from a Correspondent Node (CN) to a Mobile Node’s Care-of
Address without going through the Mobile Node’s home network.
