HP-UX IP Address and Client Management Administrator's Guide HP-UX 11i v2, HP-UX 11i v3
• duplicate hardware address: hardware_address
More than one configuration entry is specified for the client with the indicated
hardware_address. Ensure that only one configuration entry exists for the hardware
address in the /etc/bootptab file. Then, reboot the BOOTP client.
• missing ha values for host hostname
You must specify the hardware address in hexadecimal notation and the hardware address
must precede the ht tag. If you specify the hm tag, you must also specify the ha and ht tags.
• syntax error in entry for host hostname
The formatting for the host hostname’s configuration entry is incorrect. Correct the
configuration entry and reboot the BOOTP client. For information about the correct BOOTP
configuration file syntax, type man 1M bootpd at the HP-UX prompt.
• unknown symbol in entry for host hostname
The configuration entry contains an unknown tag or invalid character. Correct the
configuration entry and reboot the BOOTP client. For information about the correct BOOTP
configuration file syntax, type man 1M bootpd at the HP-UX prompt.
