The syntax and arguments are described in the table below:
Table B-46 ib sm subnet-prefix Syntax Description
DescriptionSyntax
Globally Unique Identifier (GUID) of this subnet manager. The GUID is a 64-bit value
used to identify the InfiniBand subnet. This is a unique subnet identifier and is joined
with the GUID to form the global identifier (GID) of the port. All GIDs within a subnet
have the same subnet prefix. You may enter any prefix; however the recommended prefix
is: fe:80:00:00:00:00:00:00, which indicates a locally administered subnet.
guid
Assigns a priority to the Subnet Manager.priority
Refers to a 64-bit subnet management key that is automatically assigned to the subnet
manager.
sm-key
Sets the maximum delay allowed between the port reception of a subnet management
packet and the transmission of the associated response. The default is 2,000 microseconds.
response-timeout value
Interval at which the subnet manager sweeps the fabric for any network changes. The
value is an integer that the number of seconds to wait.
sweep-interval value
Use this keyword to remove a subnet manager, reset the priority, sweep-interval, or
response-timeout parameters back to their default values. Only one of these parameters
may be specified on the command line when using the no keyword.
Also use the no keyword to remove a Partition.
no
Enter a valid IB subnet-prefix.subnet-prefix
Enter a 16-bit identification for the Partition. See the table below for valid p_key entries.partition key
Enter the GUID of the node that is to be added to a Partition. Nodes are not added to
Partitions, but the specific port is identified by it’s Node GUID and it’s port number.
node guid
Enter the port number that you want to add to a Partition.port number
Enter the type of membership that you want a specific Partition member (port) to have.
Partitions can contain port members that are both full and limited members.
Valid entries are: full-memberor limited-member

Command Modes: Global-configuration mode.
Privilege Level: General read-write user.
Usage Guidelines: This is an InfiniBand Subnet Management Configuration Command.
The subnet manager:
• discovers the subnet topology and dynamically updates it at a specified sweep interval
• configures the LIDs, GID subnet prefixes, and P_Keys for each channel adapter port
• configures the LIDs, subnet prefixes, and forwarding databases for each switch on the subnet
• maintains the endnode and service databases of the subnet, providing a GUID to LID/GID
resolution service as well as a services directory.
One subnet manager is used to administer the InfiniBand fabric. All InfiniBand hosts are on this
one subnet. Upon bootup, the subnet manager image is loaded and ready.
Each node in the fabric has a subnet management agent (SMA) to shuttle communication requests
between the node and the subnet manager. Communication between the subnet manager and
