show fan
Synopsis: The show fan command displays the status of the two fans that cool the system
chassis.
Syntax: show fan
Command Modes: User-execute and privileged-execute modes.
Privilege Level: General read-only user.
Usage Guidelines: Both fans should be operational while the system is powered-up. If the
operational status of a fan is “down”, contact Customer Support for a fan module replacement.
The fields in the show fan output are described in the table below.

Fan module number. Fan 1 is the fan on the left-side as you are facing the front of the chassis.
Fan 2 is on the right-side of the chassis. There is only one fan module in the system chassis.
fan
Operational status of the fan. The value is unknown, up, down, or failure. up indicates the
fan is operating correctly.
