Known Problems
vparutil command
Description: The vparutil tool for setting SCSI parameters
from the command prompt does not work properly on the
Superdome platform.
Symptoms: The vparutil tool provides the ability to get and
set the SCSI parameters for a specified SCSI controller. However,
on the Superdome platform, this tool does not work correctly and
will return the error message "Error while making
firmware call" when you attempt to set the parameters for a
controller.
Workaround: The BCH (Boot Console Handler) allows you to
set the SCSI parameters for a specified SCSI controller. To get to
the BCH on a vPars system, first shutdown all running virtual
partitions using shutdown -h. Then, reboot the monitor by
issuing the reboot command at the monitor prompt (MON>). Stop
the boot at BCH, and from the Service menu of the BCH, set
the SCSI parameters.
