Integrity Virtual Machines Online Virtual Machine Migration
Online VM Migration for Integrity Virtual Machines enables a running VM, its guest OS and its
applications to be moved to a different VM Host without service interruption. Service remains active
without an OS reboot or application restart. All I/O connections to storage and networks remain
active throughout the migration. This enables proactive maintenance, as well as workload balancing.
This can be used to reduce downtime and costs, and increase flexibility, especially for proactive
maintenance and workload balancing.
Requirements
Hardware: HP Integrity servers only
Software: For use only with Integrity VM (HP-UX 11i v3 VM Host) v4.1 or with any of the bundles
containing Integrity VM v4.1 (at least March/April 2009 release) (including; VSE Suite, and the
HP-UX 11i v3 VSE-OE or DC-OE)
Support for the following operating systems running in Integrity Virtual Machines guest:
– HP-UX 11i v2
– HP-UX 11i v3
– Microsoft Windows Server 2003
Local area network (LAN) card required for network connection and configuration
Sufficient disk space and physical memory (RAM) requirements. See the ―Installation requirements‖
section in the ―HP Integrity Virtual Machines Version 4.1 Installation, Configuration, and
Administration‖ guide (http://docs.hp.com/en/T2767-90180/index.html)
Dependencies and recommendations
All virtual disks must map directly to whole LUNs (SAN storage) or to Shared LVM logical volumes.
Requires consistent virtual switch configuration (name and subnet).
Dedicated private network required for security. Recommend 1Gbit or higher connectivity between
physical VM Host systems.
Attached I/O devices must be disconnected prior to migration.

Administration‖ at http://www.docs.hp.com/en/T2767-90180/T2767-90180.pdf
