Implement high-availability solutions with HP Instant Capacity - easily and effectively

Additional HP Serviceguard scripting considerations
When developing Serviceguard scripts, consider the following:
Remember that if temporary capacity is being used in the group, it may be necessary to specify t on the failover
activation command (icapmodify a or icapmodify -s commands).
Check if usage rights have been made available even after an attempted rights seizure returns an error such as a
timeout error. The rights seizure could have timed out while the manager was waiting for a response from a target
member, and does not necessarily mean that the rights seizure did not complete independently.
Check if manual intervention is required. As noted previously, failback with vPars requires a restore operation before
the failed vPars begin the reboot process. Because Serviceguard is started after the initial boot up of the virtual
partition, manual intervention is likely required for this failback case rather than using automated scripts under the
control of Serviceguard.
Give careful thought to the possibility and consequences of split groups when automating group manager failover
and especially, automated failback to a group manager.
Note that rights seizure does require root access to the Group Manager system through some mechanism such as
remsh, ssh, or your own secure remote connection.
