HP Instant Capacity Version 10.x User Guide (5900-2170, January 2012)

Diagnosing email configuration
Follow these steps to confirm the email configuration or to aid in debugging the configuration:
1. Send an email message from your system to an email address in the same domain (intranet)
and confirm receipt of the email message.
2. Send an email message from your system to an email address outside of your domain (to the
internet, for example, to a yahoo or hotmail email address) and confirm receipt of the email
message.
3. Send an email message from your system to someone at HP (for example, a HP representative
in a local account team) and confirm the person at HP received the email message.
4. As root, execute the command:
/usr/sbin/icapnotify <reply_address>
This command sends an email message to the HP audit application. HP sends a confirmation
email message to the reply address that is specified. Receipt of the confirmation email message
confirms successful email configuration.
5. If the previous steps are all successful, but asset reports are still not visible at the HP portal,
examine your email configuration to determine whether outgoing messages are automatically
being modified or appended, such as to include something like a privacy notice. Additions
or modifications to encrypted asset reports can cause the portal to reject them.
If any of these steps do not produce the correct result, see “Configuring email on Instant Capacity
systems” (page 194) for details on how to correctly configure email connectivity for iCAP.
Resolving errors during addition of Standby GM
While adding Standy GM there is a possibility of certificate exchange failure for the SD2 members.
This can be resolved by re-adding the member to the GM.
Handling errors while re-adding GiCAP member
Follow these steps if you get an error while re-adding a member to a GM from both Active GM
and standy GM:
1. Execute the cimtrust -l command to view the list of certificates present in the GM (AGM
and SGM).
2. Look for the certificate which contains the Common Name mentioned in the OA certificate on
the member. OA certificate information can be obtained on the member, by executing Show
OA certificate on the OA cli.
3. Then execute the cimtrust -r i <Issuer> -S <Subject> command to remove the
certificate. Issuer and subject information should be taken from cimtrust -l output.
Negative Cores without Usage rights value in icapmanage -s output
If icapmanage -s reports a negative cores without usage rights value after a seize operation is
performed on one of the members, you must execute icapmanage -s on the GM again after
sometime and the correct data will be displayed in the output.
