HP Instant Capacity User's Guide for Versions 8.x
Accidental Activation of an Instant Capacity Cell Board
If you inadvertently activate an Instant Capacity cell board, you can de-activate it by following
this two step procedure:
1. Set the cell board’s use-on-next-boot flag to “n” (no) using the parmodify command
2. Perform a reboot of the nPartition (this is not necessary if there was no reboot after the
activation), or (on HP-UX 11.31 OEUR 0709 or later) a Cell Online Deactivation
Example 6-4 De-activating a cell board in cabinet 0, slot 5, nPartition 3 (HP-UX)
For example, changing the use-on-next-boot flag to “n” on the Instant Capacity cell board
in cabinet 0, slot 5, in nPartition 3 can be accomplished via the following command:
/usr/sbin/parmodify -p 3 -m 0/5::n:
The “n” in the above command line sets the cell board’s use-on-next-boot flag to “no” and
causes the cell board to not participate in the nPartition when it is booted.
See the nPartition Administrator's Guide for details about adding and configuring cells in
nPartitions.
