HP Instant Capacity User's Guide for Versions 8.x

multiple expiration dates. To see the more
detailed list of partition-specific rights seizure
counts and expiration dates, use the -v option.
Unassigned core usage
rights seized:
This field displays the number of unused core
usage rights (not previously assigned to any
partition) that have been seized from this
member. This field is displayed only when the
-v option is specified.
Note that icapmanage -z can be used to
restore core usage rights that were previously
seized from partitions. It does not restore
previously seized core usage rights if those core
usage rights were not assigned to any partition
at the time of seizure. In other respects
however, these unassigned seized usage rights
are similar to usage rights seized from
partitions: if the member reconnects to the
group manager before the expiration date, the
seized usage rights will be completed as a
“loan” to the group, and if the expiration date
occurs before any reconnection, the seized
usage rights will revert to the member system
from which they were seized.
Core usage rights
seized from npar <n>:
This field displays the number of expiring core
usage rights that have been seized from a
specific partition of the member. This field is
displayed only when the -v option is specified
and it is repeated for each partition where usage
rights have been seized for disaster recovery,
when none of the member partitions could be
contacted.
Expiration: This field displays the expiration date for core
usage rights that have been seized with
icapmanage -x operations from the
preceding named partition, or from the complex
in the case of unassigned usage rights. The
expiration date for a rights seizure operation
effectively terminates the period during which
the core usage rights are available to other
group members for purposes of disaster
recovery.
This field is displayed only when the -v option
is specified and only for systems where usage
rights have been seized for disaster recovery,
when none of the member partitions could be
contacted.
Guidelines for Interpretation of Usage Rights Counts
In general, the Instant Capacity software is designed to enforce the concept that a certain number
of resources must remain inactive in order to meet compliance of the iCAP contract. For that
reason, many of the display fields for icapstatus and also for icapmanage are “negative”
counts of usage rights, for example “cores without usage rights” and “cells without usage rights”.
