HP Instant Capacity Release Notes for Versions 8.x
group is always represented by the group total reported by icapmanage -s, and that total is
always available to all members of the group. Note that in version 8.02 or later the verbose option
(-v) has been enhanced to show more information, in particular to show the TiCAP balance held
by the Group Manager.
GiCAP does not support IPv6. IPv4 is supported.
GiCAP does not support multi-homing (multiple NICs/IPs for a host). A member is always
contacted using the name or IP address provided when it is added to the group. A member
always communicates with the Group Manager through the default IP address associated with
its hostname; if the Group Manager is not reachable through that IP address by a given member,
the member will be unable to participate in the group.
If you upgrade the hardware on a Group Manager system, you must preserve and restore the
UUID and the partition information on the system.
Starting with iCAP version 8.02, GiCAP Group Managers store more information about the
members of a group than previous versions of iCAP. This information must be fetched from the
various group members when converting an earlier version of the GiCAP database to the current
version. This information cannot be fetched if all hosts of a GiCAP Group member cannot be
contacted. Therefore, HP recommends updating a GiCAP Group Manager system to iCAP version
8.02 or later only when every GiCAP group member has at least one host which can be contacted
by the GiCAP Group Manager.
In some circumstances, attempting to remove a member from a group after a reignite will fail.
A workaround is to remove and re-add the member to the host list, and then remove the member
from the group Following is an example of removing and re-adding the group member:
icapmanage -u -m member -h host!host
At this point the member can be removed using the icapmanage -r command.
