HP Instant Capacity for HP Integrity Superdome 2 Servers
4
HP Global Instant Capacity
GiCAP extends the value of iCAP by allowing usage rights for iCAP cores to be moved among a
group of servers. In addition, temporary capacity can be pooled and used by servers in the GiCAP
group, which provides:
• Cost-effective disaster recovery and high availability
In case of planned or unplanned downtime, usage rights can be transferred from a downed server
or a failed partition on one server to one or more partitions with iCAP cores in one or more other
servers in the group, thus providing a backup capability.
• Multi-server load balancing
Usage rights in a server with extra unused capacity can be transferred to another server in a GiCAP
group and used to activate additional cores on an overloaded server that needs extra capacity.
• Flexible resource sharing
Temporary capacity can be shared among servers in a GiCAP group for better efficiency and ease
of use.
HP iCAP pricing
iCAP components along with enablement cost the same as the regular components. There is no
premium over regular product prices. The iCAP component price plus the RTU price to fully activate
the iCAP component equals the regular component purchase price.
In HP Integrity Superdome 2, iCAP component is priced at 40 percent of the normal purchase price
and the RTU is the remaining 60 percent of the regular purchase price. Contact your HP sales or
partner representative for actual prices.
