HP X.25 Release Notes (5900-1522, December 2011)

This problem might occur if the setup includes the following:
The X.25 card is installed in one of the following HP Integrity servers:
Superdome sx2000
HP Integrity server rx7640
HP Integrity server rx8640
Any version of the HP X.25 2-port PCI card (J3525A)
Any RAD SPS series switch (SPS-12, SPS-3S, or SPS-6)
For more information, see the “Multiprotocol Packet Switches section of the RAD Web site
at: http://www.rad.com/Article/0,6583,25075,00.html
The interface used is either RS-530 or RS-449
This problem occurs because of a design defect in the RAD switch implementation of the RS-530
and RS-449 interfaces loop-around test pins. In some situations, this defect causes excess inflow
of current into the X.25 card. This problem occurs if an X.25 card is installed either in the sx2000,
rx7640, or rx8640 systems, because of the system’s lower short circuit current limit and threshold
voltage.
Workaround
HP recommends inserting a special DB25 male/female mini-adapter, with pins 18 and 21
disconnected, between the X.25 switch and the cable connector, as shown in Figure 1 (page 5).
Figure 1 Inserting a mini-adapter between the X.25 switch and cable connector
Figure 2 (page 6) shows how to attach the adapter to the cable connector.
