Firmware requirements
Make sure your system meets the minimum firmware requirements for HP-UX
11i v3 (B.11.31). New IO adapters and certain virtualization applications
may require updated firmware. Check the product documentation for further
information.

Procedures for installing VxFS and VxVM are new
Starting with the September 2009 Operating Environment Update Release
(OEUR), the installation of VxFS and VxVM changed. The HP-UX 11i v3 OEUR
included the 4.1 and 5.0 versions of VxFS. The recommended (default-installed)
selection was VxFS 5.0 plus LVM. In the September 2011 OEUR, the
recommended (default-installed) selection for all systems was VxFS 5.0.1 plus
LVM.
As of the March 2012 OEUR, VxFS 5.0.1 is required (always-installed) and
LVM is recommended (default-installed). This has important implications for
several install scenarios. For information on how this may impact you, consult
