• If any of the above mentioned characters are not used by applications, there will be no
compatibility break with the new Unicode 6.1 locales.
• If applications use any of the above combinations of codepoints and affected APIs, then the
loc_config tool should be used:
◦ loc_config: This tool allows system administrators to enable system-wide locale(1)
database version-switching between the two Unicode versions (that is, Unicode 5.0 and
Unicode 6.1).
◦ /usr/sbin/loc_config 6: System-wide enablement of Unicode 6.1. This command
is effective for any processes started after the change.
◦ /usr/sbin/loc_config 5: System-wide disablement of Unicode 6.1 and switch back
to Unicode 5.0 support. This command is effective for any processes started after the
change.
• After installing the patches, Unicode 6.1 is the default version of locales.
Performance
There are no known performance issues.
