-3 Installing MPS on the OVO Management

Server

This section describes the procedures for installing and verifying installation of MPS on the OVO

Management Server. It describes how to deploy and verify deployment of OVO agent templates.

3-1 Installing MPS on the OVO Management Server on

HP-UX

-1-1 Access the Install Package

MPS installation agent templates are located in <MPSinstallationFolder>\distribution.

Files:

• MPS_for_OVO8_HPUX.zip (for OVO 8 Management Server on HP-UX)

• MPS_AIX_templates.zip (for AIX managed nodes)

• MPS_HPUX_templates.zip (for HP-UX managed nodes)

• MPS_Solaris_templates.zip (for Solaris managed nodes)

NOTE: To ensure that collection templates are working identical on OVO on HP-UX and OVO on

Windows, HP only distributes one set of templates. HP provides an automated conversion which

needs to be performed when the templates get used in an OVO on Windows environment.

-1-2 Using a Password with the Install Package

Monitoring technology for Sun Solaris is copyrighted by third parties and/or HP. To obtain access it

is necessary to contact HP service personnel.

-1-3 Installing the OVO Agent Templates and Applications

To install the OVO agent templates execute the following steps:

1. Uncompress all files. For file MPS_Solaris_templates.zip (if necessary) request the

password as described in the previous section.

2. Copy all tar files to the HP-UX OVO server.

3. Start with file MPS_for_OVO8_HPUX.tar. The other three files can be executed on demand

and in arbitrary order. For each tar file manual installation:

c. Copy the tar file to /var/tmp.

d. Extract the tar file (tar -xvf ...).

e. Use opccfgupld to upload the configuration.

TIP: Please take note of the following example for file MPS_for_OVO8_HPUX.tar:

Copy the tar file to

/var/tmp:cp ./MPS_for_OVO8_HPUX.tar /var/tmp

Extract the file:

tar -xvf /var/tmp/MPS_for_OVO8_HPUX.tar

Upload the config. If it is not the initial upload, use –replace instead of –add:

/opt/OV/bin/OpC/opccfgupld -add /var/tmp/MPS_for_OVO8_HPUX
