Therefore, it is recommended to use the OSEM MSIO spreadsheet and data loader instead.
NOTE: HP internal web pages are only obtainable by HP personnel. Please ask you HP account
representative to obtain these manuals for you or refer to the Troubleshooting Manual.
The OSEM MSIO spreadsheet is available in several locations in the Remote Support web site and
at various HP internal RSTMV and MPS SharePoint sites. The data is collected and administered
conveniently in the OSEM MSIO spreadsheet and loaded by the OSEM MSIO program into the
CMS database.
4-2-4 Using the Volume Data Load of the Managed System
Web Page
When a large number of devices are managed in a dynamic environment, the process of providing
updates to the managed device data is critical, but this process may be difficult to synchronize. As a
result, MPS introduces the concept of a default device.
When OVO reports an event with a hostname that is not in the managed device database, MPS will
look up the data for the default device, while still allowing the device incidents to be reported to HP.
In the case where data for a device is missing, this will cause a separate message in OVO which
reminds the administrators to add the device to the managed device database.
If no default device entry is found, the submission of an event will fail and this problem will be
displayed in OVO. To add a default device into the managed device database, a device with the
following characteristics can be added, either via the spreadsheet or the OSEM web page:
*Server Hostname = unknown (may also be labeled as System Name)
Server Domain Name = blank
*WFM entitlement Type = SAID|Systemhandle
*WFM Entitlement ID = <identifier of an existing valid contract>
*WFM Serial Number = unknown
*WFM Product Number = unknown
*System IP address = blank
(where * denotes a mandatory field).
It is necessary to determine a real contract that probably covers an unknown device, and the
contact information should be that of similar valid devices.
