The power LED is steady OFF. If the system has an empty slot in the ON state, use the olrad
command or the pdweb tool to power the slot OFF.
The Attention LED is steady OFF or is BLINKing (if you located the slot).
You are grounded to the chassis of the unit.

To add a card online using the Attention Button, follow these steps:
1. If a latch is present, press the latch into the unlocked position.
2. Add the card into the slot.
3. Press the latch into the locked position if a latch is present.
CAUTION: Working out of sequence, or not completing the actions within each step, could
cause the system to crash. Do not press the Attention Button until the latch is locked.
4. Press the Attention Button.
The power LED starts to BLINK.
5. Wait for the power LED to stop BLINKing.
6. Check for errors in the hotplugd daemon log file. The default log file is
/var/adm/hotplugd.log.
NOTE: When you initiate an online addition using the Attention Button, the system performs
a restrictive CRA. The online addition fails if critical resources may be impacted. If you want to
control the CRA, use pdweb or the olrad command.
Replacing a Card Online
Before you replace a card online, ensure that the system meets the following prerequisites:
The card to be added uses the same drivers and is of the same type as the card being replaced.
The power LED is steady ON.
The Attention LED is steady OFF or is BLINKing (if you requested a locate of the slot).
You are grounded to the chassis of the unit.
CAUTION: Working out of sequence or not completing each step can cause the system to crash.
Do not unlock the latch until the after you press the Attention Button.
To replace a card online using the Attention Button, follow these steps:
1. Press the Attention Button. The power LED starts to BLINK, then turns steady OFF. If the
power LED does not turn OFF, then check the hotplugd daemon log file at:
/var/adm/hotplugd.log for errors, and DO NOT PROCEED.
2. If present, manually unlock the latch .
3. Remove the card from the slot. Optionally, you can leave the slot in the power OFF state
and replace the card later.
4. Install the new card into the slot.
NOTE: Online addition using the Attention Button does not perform the pre-add sequence
of olrad (olrad -a).
5. If present, press latch to the locked position.
6. Press the Attention Button. The power LED starts to BLINK.
7. Wait for the power LED to stop BLINKing.
8. Check for errors in the hotplugd daemon log file /var/adm/hotplugd.log.
