The pdweb tool also provides the following benefits:
• Performance improvements over previous pdweb implementations; actions that took a
minute or more now take only a few seconds.
• Smart OL* technology takes advantage of the feature that only allows a matching replacement
card to be brought online.
• The Fast Web interface is light on the network and can be used in places where an X Windows
interface is not available or does not provide equivalent speed.
• Additional Web security provides a secure, encrypted connection between the Web browser
and the host system.
How the pdweb Tool Works
The pdweb GUI is powered by the pdweb command introduced in HP-UX 11i v2. This command
invokes the necessary pdweb Web tools and the GUI.
The pdweb tool uses the olrad command and other existing commands including ioscan,
insf, and diskinfo to gather data and perform actions on the system. You can access the
pdweb GUI using SMH or SIM.
