If any of the above mentioned characters are not used by applications, there will be no
compatibility break with the new Unicode 6.1 locales.
If applications use any of the above combinations of codepoints and affected APIs, then the
loc_config tool should be used:
loc_config: This tool allows system administrators to enable system-wide locale(1)
database version-switching between the two Unicode versions (that is, Unicode 5.0 and
Unicode 6.1).
/usr/sbin/loc_config 6: System-wide enablement of Unicode 6.1. This command
is effective for any processes started after the change.
/usr/sbin/loc_config 5: System-wide disablement of Unicode 6.1 and switch back
to Unicode 5.0 support. This command is effective for any processes started after the
change.
After installing the patches, Unicode 6.1 is the default version of locales.
Performance
There are no known performance issues.
