the HP-UX 11i v3 March 2013 release” (page 11).
Enhanced boot capability
Previously, the maximum boot disk size supported with LVM was 2 TB. With this enhancement,
the maximum boot disk size supported with Logical Volume Manager (LVM) is 16 TB.
Summary of Change
Starting with the March 2013 release of HP-UX 11i v3, the maximum boot disk size supported
with the LVM boot layout is enhanced from 2 TB to 16 TB on HP Integrity systems. You can now
install HP-UX on disks up to 16 TB in size. For more information, see the Ignite-UX Release Notes
(http://www.hp.com/go/Ignite-UX).
This new boot enhancement has been added to LVM starting with version 2.2 volume groups. With
the LVM boot layout, system logical volumes (Root/Boot/Swap/Dump Logical Volumes) can now
be created up to the size of 16 TB. However, the maximum system volume sizes are subject to the
limits applied by Ignite-UX during the HP-UX cold installation. For more information, see HP-UX
Logical Volume Manager Release Notes and HP-UX System Administrator's Guide: Logical Volume
Management HP-UX 11i v3 (http://www.hp.com/go/hpux-LVM-VxVM-docs).
IMPORTANT: The Ignite-UX server’s Ignite-UX software needs to be updated to C.7.16 or above
for cold installation/recovery of the HP-UX 11i v3 March 2013 OEUR on >2 TB boot disks.
This new boot capability requires the following software, all of which is always-installed with all
